A Christian Perspective on Sexual Health Promotion

There is a constant challenge in clinical practice between secular and Christian values for those who are 21st century doctors and nurses. Nowhere is this more evident than in the area of Sexual Health Promotion. Yet today brings such opportunities for those who choose to bring their Christian values into their clinical practice. Our experience in LOVEFORLIFE, working on the education health interface within the area of relationships and sexuality education/sexual health promotion is that many from all or no faith are interested in a delaying sex centered approach in relationships and sexuality education and accept that Church and faith have a role to play in sexual health promotion and messages around good sexual health. At LOVEFORLIFE there is greater opportunity than ever before to deliver programmes to young people and parents and to engage strategically with government, statutory and community in this area of health promotion.

“A Christian Perspective on Sexual Health Promotion” will inspire, inform and challenge doctors and nurses encouraging each of us to take more risks for God as we live out our faith through our clinical practice.

Speakers:

Trevor Stammers: Author of “Saving Sex”, a former GP  and a lecturer in Bioethics at St Mary’s University College in Twickenham. He was Chairman of CMF from 2007 – June 2009 and has a vast experience of speaking into this area in all media and medical settings.

Rachel Gardner: Rachel was the face of BBC’s No sex please we’re teenagers and is Director of Romance Academy and a well-known speaker and author of “Cherished”.

Dickie Barr: Dickie is founder of Love for Life, and works part time in General Practice and as Medical Director of LOVEFORLIFE.
